The paintings in this room are painted with bamboo pens and brush on Mulberry paper,
which is stronger than rice paper and has intriguing texture.
A famous painter once told me that perhaps some one can copy an oil painting by
John Singer Sargent, but it is impossible to copy any of his watercolors.
Sargent is one of my favorite masters. I think he is the most talented painter in US art history.
I love his paintings, especially his watercolors. The amazing colors, the spontaneous style and the unique
perspective in his work are what I want for my paintings.
